AResT ~ Ambulance Responder Team - Ovingdean, Rottingdean, Saltdean, Telscombe Cliffs, Peacehaven

Registered Charity Number 1122361

How You Can Get Involved with AResT? ~ Want to Know More? ~ Becoming a Responder... Volunteer responders can be male or female, aged from 18yrs; must have access to a car and be able to attend emergency calls from either their home or place of work in Ovingdean, Rottingdean, Saltdean, Telscombe Cliffs, Peacehaven as soon as they are received, in a similar way to which retained firefighters or volunteer RNLI staff or other volunteer emergency services operate. Our team of Community Responders currently provide cover virtually around the clock, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, on a rota basis. Each responder normally commits a certain amount of time per week to be on duty, on a rota basis. While a responder is on call they can continue with their normal day to day activities while in the local area, but must be ready to drop everything and attend a call should one arise while they are on duty. While on duty the responder carries the medical equipment with them in their car, plus an Ambulance Service pager to alert them to call outs.A volunteer responder needs to be extremely reliable and trust worthy, good under pressure, able to remain calm in emergency situations, be caring when dealing with patients and have a good level of physical fitness. Prospective responders have to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Check which is carried out by the Ambulance Service and will need to pass an interview, if these are passed successfully training can begin. Previous medical or first aid experience is a requirement, with further training and assessment being provided by South East Coast Ambulance Service. We need assistance and support in many other ways other than just responding to 999 calls ~ we need fundrasers, volunteers to attend Summer Fair's and other Charity events; to help promote and publicise the Ambulance Service Community Responder Scheme and above all, get involved with our local community. If you think you can help this vital Local Community Responder charity - please do not hesitate to contact us.If you would like further information about volunteering or would like to pledge a donation to the scheme, please visit our Contact Us page.
